Truck Driving and what it means to me

When I was growing up my father was a truck driver. I remember back than when I used to go with my dad to different locales across the country. I went just as many miles on my knees pushing my trucks around making motor sounds as my dad did in the real thing. I remember how proud I was of him and am even today. I see that chrome and those pretty paint schemes and even occasionally a little smoke out of the tail pipe. In reflection I realized that some of the nicest people and some of the hardest working were holding that big ole steering wheel. They were also some of the most confident people Id ever came across. To be a truck driver for me today was certainly inevitable even though delayed from a wild time early in my driving years that took a long time to rescind, inevitable none the less. To realize that my role in society is such a large contribution in day to day survival makes me proud to be there as well. To see my little boy at 4 years old understand what Im doing out there and why and that he is proud of his dad means everything to me. For my girls to realize the importance of what I do ( and what all truckers do) is priceless. Im living every little boys dream. Sometimes were caught up in regulation, under appreciation, and constant screw yous from everyone else that we forget why we are out there. I am proud of what I do and thats why I do it. When I see a big chromed out peterbilt with 5 hundred thousand lights on it and a shine visible from the moon I still jump up and down like I did when I was 5. I know that without me and the others that make up the trucking industry within less than a week the world would completely stop Thats power whether we realize it or not. I love being in control of my day when I stop when I go. Im not going to lie there are some setbacks. Missing my kids is first and foremost. Not really having a place thats "home" sometimes is a struggle as well but I home is where My truck is I guess. So overall trucking to me is not only a vital part of society my livlihood but its also the source of my pride and always has been. I was proud of my dad and now I still am and also proud of myself for what I do. I am proud of everyone who ventures in and attempts to contribute to the grand scheme of this industry. Im proud that Im my little boys hero and the apple of 3 little girls eyes. So what other reasons do I need.
